The idea behind SMC is that big traders need a lot of orders on the other side to fill their positions. So price often moves first to areas where many stop-losses and pending orders sit, before making its real move.
SMC builds on basic price action: it still uses support, resistance and market structure, but reads them through the lens of where liquidity is resting.
