Breakeven

Also called: Break-even, BE

// Definition

Breakeven means moving your stop-loss to your entry price, so the trade can no longer lose money.

Explained simply

Once a trade has moved well in your favour, often after the first target is hit, many traders move the stop to the entry price. From then on, the worst outcome is a trade that closes at zero.

Moving to breakeven too early can get you stopped out by normal price swings before the real move happens.

Tip

Move to breakeven after price has proven itself, such as after the first target, not after the first green candle.

For education only, not financial advice. Trading is risky and you can lose money.
